🎯 Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – Surgery oversees medical coding operations, ensuring productivity, quality, turnaround time (TAT), and team performance. This role involves managing people, projects, and client relationships while maintaining compliance and driving operational excellence.


🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage overall personnel performance, discipline, and team productivity.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, TAT, attendance, and attrition.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and functional expertise in the assigned area.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client interactions and communication.

  • Review and analyze operational metrics and periodic reports.

  • Identify and implement process improvement and quality initiatives.

  • Support internal audits and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Maintain a positive and motivating work environment promoting teamwork and creativity.

  • Develop and manage annual business plans and operating budgets.

  • Handle performance feedback, coaching sessions, and employee engagement activities.

  • Manage conflict resolution, problem-solving, and critical decision-making.

  • Collaborate with SMEs, auditors, and trainers to address knowledge gaps and training needs.

  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, employment terms, and flexibility directives.


🎓 Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences, Allied Medicine, or related fields such as:

    • BHMS / BAMS / BPT / BDS / Pharmacy / Nursing / Other Allied Health Sciences

  • Certifications:
    AAPC or AHIMA Certified Coder (e.g., CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CCS-P)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 8+ years of medical coding experience

    • At least 2+ years in a Team Lead or supervisory role

  • Technical & Professional Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, pathophysiology, and physiology

    • Proficient understanding of coding and billing requirements and regulatory updates

    • Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement methodologies

    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

    • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams

    • Skilled in conflict management, attrition control, and retention strategies

    • Strong collaboration with SMEs and quality teams for continuous improvement
