Position Summary

The Zonal Account Manager is responsible for driving sales of orthopedic joint implants (hips and knees) within a designated territory. This role focuses on achieving sales targets, building long-term customer relationships, providing technical expertise, and ensuring optimal product adoption by surgeons and hospitals.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Turnover

  • Sell orthopedic franchise products/implants within the assigned territory.

  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and hospital purchase departments to generate demand and close deals.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales action plans reflecting required activities for achieving sales objectives.

  • Analyze sales reports, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions.

  • Participate in trade displays, conferences, and promotional events as needed.

2. Territory Management

  • Understand customer needs to identify sales opportunities.

  • Respond to daily surgeon requirements and recommend suitable products.

  • Identify tender/contract opportunities and coordinate with colleagues for delivery.

  • Develop effective territory plans with guidance.

  • Train surgeons on new technologies and solutions through consultative sessions.

3. Customer Education & Training

  • Identify customer in-service education needs to ensure effective product use.

  • Maintain strong relationships with CSSD teams, OT in-charges, and biomedical personnel.

  • Coordinate and deliver in-service education sessions with assistance.

4. Key Account Management

  • Prepare plans to optimize key account development and sales growth.

  • Document key customers and decision-makers.

  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and coordinate with managers/colleagues.

  • Manage consigned inventory and instrument maintenance for key accounts.

5. Product & Market Knowledge

  • Enhance understanding of product features, applications, anatomy, physiology, and procedures.

  • Demonstrate product usage and differentiate from competitors.

  • Monitor surgeon adoption and gather competitive intelligence.

6. Distribution Management

  • Develop and manage distributor networks for the territory.

  • Ensure stock replenishment and availability for surgeries.

  • Maintain instrument functionality and initiate replacements as needed.

7. Expense, Equipment & Samples

  • Manage operating expenses within budget, seeking prior approval for deviations.

  • Optimize sample and expense utilization per company guidelines.

8. Self-Development

  • Participate in training programs and apply new learning on the job.

  • Maintain knowledge through self-learning strategies and competency assessments.

9. Corporate Ethics & Governance

  • Conduct business ethically in alignment with Johnson & Johnson Credo.

  • Maintain high ethical standards in customer relationships.


Education & Experience

  • Science graduate preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience in Medical Devices Sales.

  • Experience in orthopedic/joint implants preferred.

  • Skilled in handling HCP KOLs.


Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in Hindi and English.

  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to analyze market trends and drive sales strategy.
