Position Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join its Surgical Oncology service line at the Piedmont Atlanta campus. This full-time position operates on a 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM schedule, 365 days per year, with shared call responsibilities. The role supports surgical, inpatient, and outpatient clinical operations and is integral to delivering high-quality surgical oncology care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform First Assist duties in the Operating Room (OR) for Surgical Oncology procedures.

  • Conduct inpatient rounding and contribute to post-operative patient management.

  • Manage and evaluate post-operative and critically ill patients across hospital units, including CVOR, ICU, CCU, and CVICU.

  • Provide post-operative assessments in the outpatient clinic setting.

  • Apply advanced clinical skills to support high-acuity oncology cases.

  • Contribute to excellence in patient care, clinical teaching, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Support organizational goals through leadership, evidence-based practice, and patient-centric care.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a current Georgia Advanced Practice Nursing License and a Master’s degree in Nursing,
    OR

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current licensure from the Georgia State Composite Medical Board.

Minimum Experience

  • No prior experience required; new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Required Licensure/Certification

  • Active Georgia Physician Assistant License,
    OR

  • Active Georgia Advanced Practice Nursing license (ACNP, FNP, or WHNP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • None specified; however, prior experience in surgical oncology, critical care, or perioperative care is beneficial.


Experience Requirements (For Global Job Standards)

Although no minimum experience is formally required, candidates with the following experience will be highly competitive:

  • Clinical rotations or hands-on training in surgical care, oncology, or critical care.

  • Experience providing patient care in high-acuity hospital units.

  • Familiarity with EPIC EMR systems and multidisciplinary care workflows.
