Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. KOL Engagement:

    • Identify and update a list of regional KOLs (and national KOLs where applicable) within the assigned Therapy Area (TA).
    • Profile regional KOLs and create individual engagement plans tailored to each KOL.
    • Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with regional experts, especially KOLs, through regular field visits and other medical initiatives.
    • Collect feedback and insights from KOLs on Takeda products and therapeutic areas (TAs) through one-on-one interactions, advisory boards, and medical meetings.
    • Communicate relevant KOL feedback to internal stakeholders to inform medical strategy and support the brand plan.
    • Provide training and development to speakers on Takeda’s products.
    • Identify potential investigators for Medical Affairs (MA) studies.
  2. Regional Medical Plan and Initiatives:

    • Develop regional medical plans and initiatives aligned with the central medical strategy and regional needs.
    • Manage and track the annual regional medical budget and ensure it is properly approved.
    • Organize and conduct regional Advisory Board (AB) meetings in relevant TAs.
    • Conduct KOL visits according to the KOL engagement plan, document visit reports, and capture insights using systems like VEEVA CRM and MEDIsource.
    • Provide balanced information on Takeda products, therapeutic options, and disease states in regional medical activities.
    • Develop and deliver non-promotional educational sessions for healthcare professionals.
    • Create educational materials such as slide decks and videos for regional medical activities.
    • Support the conduction of Takeda MA studies (e.g., Phase IV studies, HEOR), including site feasibility checks and investigator recommendations.
    • Evaluate KOL research capabilities and the feasibility of Investigator-Initiated Sponsored Studies (IISR) in line with the medical strategy.
  3. Regional Medical Expertise:

    • Establish yourself as a regional expert in the assigned TA by engaging in internal networks across Medical, Marketing, Training, and Sales functions.
    • Provide medical insights and support for regional market and sales activities, adhering to local and regional guidelines.
    • Deliver internal medical training to regional teams, focusing on TA trends and product updates.
    • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in compliance with relevant Takeda Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Offer medical support for Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) activities as required (e.g., DSM quarterly tests).
    • Collaborate with Takeda’s development team to manage a network of investigators and KOLs.
  4. Other Responsibilities:

    • Additional responsibilities may be assigned, including work in other therapeutic areas as determined by the line manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • Master’s degree in Medical or Life Sciences required; Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Relevant Experience:

    • At least 1 year of experience in clinical practice or in a multinational pharmaceutical company, or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
    • For senior MSL positions, at least 2 years of prior MSL experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company is required.
    • Clinical experience in relevant TAs is preferred.

    • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks and meet deadlines.

    • Fluent in written business English and able to communicate effectively in spoken English.
    • Knowledge of and adherence to Takeda’s credo and compliance standards.
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Travel Requirements:

  • The MSL role is field-based, requiring more than 50% of work days in the field. Travel during holidays may be necessary based on business needs.
