About the Role:

As an Associate Medical Coder, you’ll accurately code inpatient and outpatient medical records using ICD-10 and CPT-4 systems to support hospital statistics, reimbursement accuracy, and data integrity. The role demands meticulous attention to coding accuracy (target ≥95%), strong time management, and effective collaboration within the coding team—all essential to optimize clinical operations and healthcare data management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records daily, applying ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes based on departmental guidelines.

  • Maintain an accuracy rate of ≥95% in both code choices and sequence.

  • Abstract medical records consistently and accurately.

  • Meet departmental productivity targets for coding volume and timeliness.

  • Demonstrate strong time-awareness and deadline management, minimizing interruptions.

  • Participate in coding meetings and educational sessions to enhance coding skills.

  • Display flexibility in working additional or varied hours when needed.

  • Understand and communicate how your role impacts wider departmental and hospital functions.

  • Foster cooperative working relationships with all hospital and departmental staff.

  • Join conference calls as needed to provide coding-related information.


Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Graduate degree from a recognized institution.

  • Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA (required). Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC.

  • Certification must be current and verifiable, with proof including a valid certification identification number during interview/offer process.

  • 0–1 year of experience or fresh graduate with relevant coding certification and interest.
