🎯 Role Purpose

The Senior Director – GPS Safety Data Sciences provides strategic and personnel leadership for systems, technology, automation, and data reporting/analytics across Global Patient Safety (GPS). The role involves:

  • Collaborating with GPS, Lilly Research Labs (LRL), IT, and other functions

  • Developing an integrated GPS data strategy

  • Leading capability building and overseeing execution of projects


🧠 Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership of GPS Safety Data Sciences Team

  • Manage operating priorities and resources of the team

  • Improve operational systems supporting GPS

  • Supervise, coach, and provide feedback to staff

  • Recruit, develop, and retain staff to build deep technical expertise

  • Support business planning and staffing targets

2. GPS Technology and Analytics Strategy

  • Own automation, technology, and analytics strategies for GPS

  • Benchmark and apply best practices from within and outside Lilly

  • Build business technology capabilities and skills for future state

3. Collaboration & Relationship Management

  • Liaise with leaders across GPS globally for solution alignment and consistency

  • Partner with IT, Quality, Clinical, and Statistics teams for technology strategy and implementation

  • Develop partnerships with similar functions across Lilly to leverage resources and capabilities

4. Drug Safety Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain safety systems supporting regulatory compliance

  • Ensure staff training before assuming responsibilities

  • Adapt policies and procedures proactively to regulatory requirements

  • Support internal and external inspections through coordination


🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health science, IT, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years supporting drug development areas (Safety, Clinical, IT, Project Management)

  • 5+ years people management experience

  • 2+ years experience in Pharmacovigilance

  • Experience implementing small and large systems/technology projects

Additional Preferences

  • Prior systems ownership or implementation

  • Experience in process automation and cross-functional analytics

  • Strategic thinking and driving broad organizational change

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills

  • Ability to work in a multicultural global environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Essential computer skills (Office suite, internet browsers)

  • Availability for travel


💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $151,500 – $222,200

  • Eligible for company bonus
