Your Role at Baxter

The Technical Communication team at Baxter Front Line Care in Skaneateles, NY is seeking a Senior System Administrator/Technical Writer. This role will focus on technical writing and editing, translation management, and CCMS (Component Content Management System) management, with an even split between these responsibilities.

As part of this position, you will support the implementation, configuration, and training of the Front Line Care MadCap IXIA CCMS, alongside our lead administrator. You may also manage projects related to new implementations and special initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure, and support the CCMS.

  • Prepare implementation plans for prospective CCMS projects.

  • Develop and enhance documentation to facilitate CCMS usage.

  • Train team members and prospective users on CCMS functionalities.

  • Update stylesheets and Document Type Definitions (DTD).

  • Analyze system metrics and convert non-XML content to XML for CCMS.

  • Manage translation shopping carts and purchase orders.

  • Oversee outgoing/incoming translations for the CCMS.

  • Create, write, and edit operational and instructional documents, ensuring adherence to department style guidelines.

  • Conduct interviews with technical staff to gather necessary information for projects.

  • Revise existing documents to reflect product changes.

  • Participate in peer reviews of documentation.

  • Prepare translation requests and maintain project deliverables in an organized spreadsheet.

  • Explore opportunities to leverage approved Generative AI tools for standard work.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology or Systems Management preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to tailor writing styles and content for different audiences, including clinicians, technicians, and patients.

  • Proficiency with XML authoring and publishing tools (e.g., oXygen, Adobe Technical Communication Suite).

  • Experience administering a CCMS and understanding Technical Communication practices and standards.

  • Familiarity with document production processes for various media (print, CD, web).

  • Aptitude for data management and XML code manipulation.

  • Commitment to collaboration and open communication within the team.

Work Environment

Baxter supports workplace flexibility through a policy requiring a minimum of three days on-site each week, allowing for effective collaboration while maintaining our mission-driven focus.

Compensation

We understand that compensation is a significant factor in your career decisions. The estimated base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $110,000 annually, with the possibility of discretionary bonuses. Individual pay may vary based on location, skills, experience, and other factors.
