Purpose

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a critical role in advancing global health by working as a subject matter expert in the day-to-day configuration and maintenance of the Pharmacovigilance (PV) Safety Database, specifically Oracle Argus. You will ensure that all tasks comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs), industry standards, and regulations. This role involves providing technical solutions, system administration, and support for the PV Safety group, while ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of safety data.


Key Responsibilities

  1. System Configuration and Maintenance:

    • Manage and maintain the Oracle Argus PV Safety database, ensuring it aligns with SOPs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement and validate system changes, support upgrades, and resolve issues to ensure continuous operation and optimization.
  2. Collaboration with PV Business Users:

    • Collaborate with Pharmacovigilance (PV) business users to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate system solutions.
    • Assist with internal and external audits related to the PV Safety database.
  3. Reporting and Data Analysis:

    • Create custom and ad-hoc reports from the PV Safety database using built-in tools, OBIEE, or SQL.
    • Develop and validate aggregate safety reports.
  4. Project Leadership and Support:

    • Lead data migration and validation projects, ensuring they meet requirements and are delivered with high quality.
    • Manage configuration changes and system upgrades within the PV Safety database following the PPD change control policy.
    • Provide programming support for safety data review and ad-hoc reports.
  5. Process Improvement and Mentorship:

    • Recommend and lead process development and improvements within the PV Safety database.
    • Mentor junior staff and direct their work to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in system administration, particularly with Oracle Argus or similar safety databases.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive experience in Oracle Argus system administration, with expertise in safety system configuration, database structure, and transformation rules.
  • Strong SQL programming skills and experience generating complex reports.
  • Proven record in safety data migrations, with a solid understanding of relational databases.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and leading project teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
