Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Medical Communications within the Worldwide (WW) Medical Neuropsychiatry team is responsible for the planning and timely execution of strategic, scientifically accurate communication plans. This role will support the medical communication needs across the Neuropsychiatry therapeutic area and will be a key point of contact between various BMS teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Communications Strategy:

  • Lead the development and timely delivery of aligned medical publications, scientific content, medical education, training materials, and congress presentations.
  • Ensure the endorsement of communication plans by relevant governance bodies before execution.
  • Collaborate across BMS to refine and align communication strategies with market-level and global objectives.
  • Oversee medical communications management and ensure bi-directional communication across teams and stakeholders.
  • Own the Scientific Narrative development and execute integrated publication and content plans.

Data Dissemination:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on publication strategies, scientific content planning, and data disclosure.
  • Promote adherence to publication best practices and BMS standards, ensuring alignment with industry norms like Good Publication Practices (GPP) and transparency in data dissemination.
  • Support the communication of scientific data with internal and external collaborators to ensure high-quality, impactful dialogues.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with academic experts, clinical researchers, publishers, and key stakeholders to build trust and credibility.
  • Partner with internal teams to assess and allocate resources, ensuring high-quality medical communication outputs.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors for effective external execution of communications.
  • Establish clear metrics to track and communicate progress with stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to additional content-related activities as needed.
  • Mentor other team members and ensure audit and inspection readiness.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion across the team and in decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a focus on medical communications.
  • Experience managing both local and global communication strategies.
  • Proven leadership ability and experience working across matrix teams in complex, cross-cultural environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in drug development, commercialization, and medical communications across various therapeutic areas.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of publication best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., Good Publication Practices, Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct).
  • Experience analyzing clinical trial data and communicating it effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with publication management tools (e.g., DataVision/iEnvision).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
