Position Overview:
The Scientist – HIV Discovery Virology will join a collaborative team focused on developing novel treatments for people living with HIV. The role involves investigating innovative approaches to achieve virologic control or cure without traditional antiretroviral therapy. The scientist will contribute to discovery research, pre-clinical testing, and translational studies aimed at advancing therapies to clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate molecular targets, therapeutic concepts, and agents targeting latent HIV reservoirs or achieving virologic control.

  • Establish and optimize preclinical models for HIV reservoir reduction and control.

  • Implement assays and technologies to improve detection and quantification of rebound competent HIV reservoirs.

  • Utilize sequencing and gene editing tools to identify and validate novel drug targets.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including bioinformatics, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, protein therapeutics, and cell therapy.

  • Present research findings to scientific leadership and contribute to research reports, manuscripts, INDs, and patent filings.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and scientific literature to drive innovation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD/PharmD OR

  • Master’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in virology, immunology, molecular/cellular biology, or related field with 2+ years of postdoctoral experience.

  • Proven track record in high-impact scientific research with first-author publications.

  • Experience using molecular assays to characterize HIV reservoirs (PCR, digital PCR, flow cytometry, sequencing).

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, rigorous, and innovative scientific environment.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $146,540 – $189,640 (varies based on experience and qualifications).
