Position Overview:

The Physician Supervisor provides professional medical services to people in custody (PIOC) in line with Department of Corrections policies and Bureau of Health Services standards. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, supervising medical staff, and collaborating on medical policies. The role also involves managing treatment protocols, patient flow, and participating in quality improvement and infection control programs. This position includes on-call duties and occasional direct care at other institutions during emergencies or staff absences.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base Pay: $94.93 - $118.66 per hour
  • Add-On Pay: Up to $21/hour for Physician Board Certification and up to $7/hour for supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

  • Licensing: Must hold a current Wisconsin medical license and DEA number.
  • Board Certification: Must be board-certified in a primary care field.
  • Continuing Education: Must meet CME requirements as established by the Department of Safety and Professional Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Services: Provide diagnosis, treatment, and professional consultation as necessary for inmates.
  • Supervision & Collaboration: Oversee medical staff alongside Health Service Manager, contributing to policy development and procedural implementations.
  • Quality & Policy Involvement: Participate in BHS Quality Improvement and Infection Control Programs.
  • Operational Support: Assist with on-call assignments, staff supervision, and medical policy implementation.
