Job Overview

Mercy Health is seeking a part-time pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. The pharmacist will be responsible for performing medication management activities to ensure safe, rational, and cost-effective therapy for patients, in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards.

Scheduled Weekly Hours

  • 20 hours per week
  • Work shift: Afternoons/Evenings

Job Responsibilities

  • Review medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and efficacy.
  • Prepare compounded and non-compounded products in line with regulations.
  • Oversee distributive functions of the pharmacy for accurate and timely medication availability.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff activities.
  • Maintain security of pharmacy inventory.
  • Identify and resolve potential adverse medication events.
  • Provide medication education to patients to improve understanding and adherence.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, and patients.
  • Participate in medication safety, quality assurance, and other departmental activities.

Required Education & Licenses

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD (required).
  • Current state-issued pharmacist license (required).
  • BLS Basic Life Support and immunization certification (preferred).

Experience

  • 2 years of recent experience in an acute care setting (required).
  • 1 year of leadership experience (preferred).

Skills & Abilities

  • Critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and supervise pharmacy staff.
  • Communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of medications, adverse effects, interactions, and proper dosing.
  • Proficient with pharmacy operating systems, EPIC Electronic Health Record, and MS Office.
