Roche, a global leader in diagnostics and personalized healthcare, is seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist to join its Clinical Development team in Tucson, Arizona. As the world’s leading provider of companion diagnostics, Roche develops innovative predictive tests that enable precision oncology and targeted treatment strategies. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies including multiplex immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence, messenger RNA in situ hybridization (mRNA ISH), and digital pathology platforms.

This position is ideal for a licensed pathologist seeking to contribute to translational research, regulatory submissions, and the advancement of diagnostic assays that improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert pathology review and slide interpretation to support FDA submissions, clinical trials, and pharmaceutical partnerships.

  • Contribute to the development and validation of primary antibodies, detection systems, probes, and specialized staining techniques.

  • Serve as a medical representative on cross-functional project teams, guiding pathology-related aspects of assay development programs.

  • Deliver scientific expertise in companion diagnostics, oncology biomarker development, and clinical assay optimization.

  • Advise internal stakeholders on emerging pathology trends, diagnostic innovation, and clinical needs.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. with U.S. Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology.

  • Active U.S. State Medical License.

  • Completion of accredited pathology residency training.

Experience Required

  • Fellowship training with minimum 1 year of post-fellowship clinical practice or industry experience preferred.

  • Experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC), cytology, molecular pathology, and/or genetics is highly desirable.

  • Prior involvement in clinical trials, translational research, or diagnostic assay development is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (Tucson, AZ): $172,600 – $320,500 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and geographic considerations.

  • Eligibility for discretionary annual performance bonus.
