About the Role

IQVIA is seeking a Medical Surveillance Specialist I to provide medical and laboratory surveillance support for ongoing clinical studies.
This role involves monitoring clinical laboratory data, composing medical narratives, and interfacing with investigator sites to ensure subject safety and data quality throughout the study lifecycle.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the medical integrity of trial data by detecting and communicating clinically significant lab trends and abnormalities to medical and project teams.


Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Data Monitoring

  • Review and monitor clinical laboratory results daily from sponsor-designated central laboratories.

  • Evaluate and analyze laboratory data at agreed intervals via data management systems/eDC platforms.

  • Compare current lab values against protocol-specific reference ranges and prior results to identify clinically significant changes.

  • Contact investigator sites for relevant follow-up information and share findings with project teams.

2. Clinical & Project Coordination

  • Serve as the liaison between the Medical Services Department, sponsor-designated laboratory, and IQVIA Project Team.

  • Communicate critical lab findings or trends that may impact study objectives.

  • Collaborate with central lab staff to ensure appropriate monitoring and timely reporting of subject lab results.

  • Support the Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist during project setup and planning phases.

  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on lab data trends or anomalies.

3. Medical Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Identify significant trends or shifts in laboratory data that may indicate safety concerns.

  • Alert IQVIA Medical Advisors or project stakeholders to potential medical issues.

  • Ensure accurate, consistent documentation and distribution of lab findings and communications.

4. Continuous Learning & Development

  • Stay updated on laboratory medicine, clinical research, and therapeutic area developments through continued education.

  • Contribute to process improvement and best practice sharing within the Medical Surveillance Team.


Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or Physiotherapy).

  • Preferred: Degree in Healthcare disciplines (e.g., Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, or Dentistry).

Experience

  • 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in healthcare, life sciences, or clinical research.

  • Minimum 2.5 years of medical surveillance experience (required).

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong scientific and clinical data interpretation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, managers, and clients.
