Role Overview

The Medical Information Specialist is responsible for providing accurate, evidence-based, and non-promotional medical information in response to inquiries from healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and payers. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical products and will involve handling adverse events, product complaints, and medical writing. As part of the Medical Information Contact Center (MICC), you will support multiple pharmaceutical clients, therapeutic areas, and products, ensuring high-quality service and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Medical Information Support: Respond to inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers, and payers, utilizing medical literature to create scientifically balanced responses.
  • Adverse Event Handling: Identify, assess, and report adverse events and product complaints in compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Multichannel Support: Handle requests via phone, email, CRM, chat, and other platforms.
  • Product Quality Complaints: Coordinate responses to product quality complaints in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Medical Writing: Develop and assist in the creation of response documents such as FAQs, Scientific Response Documents (SRDs), and Custom Response Documents (CRDs).
  • Client Support: Provide staffing at scientific booths and support client-specific projects, including market research, training, and operational improvements.
  • On-call Responsibilities: Be available for on-call duties on an as-assigned basis.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education: Advanced healthcare degree (preferably PharmD or higher).
  • Experience: Strong clinical background, preferably with experience in a Contact Center or pharmaceutical industry environment.
  • Licensure: Pharmacist license (preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with telephony systems, Medical Information databases, Microsoft Office, and video conferencing platforms.
  • Therapeutic Expertise: Experience in oncology, hematology, immunology, rare diseases, neurology, cardiology, or other specialties is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
  • Innovative Mindset: Ability to generate creative solutions to challenges in the industry.
  • Positive Attitude: Ability to energize others and maintain a positive, upbeat demeanor.
  • Ethical Integrity: High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
