Position Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Director, Medical Affairs, Orthopedics (Spine) to lead medical affairs initiatives within our Orthopedics Business Unit. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and offers a unique opportunity to drive medical strategy from early product development through post-market activities.


Key Responsibilities:

Internal Process Support:

  • Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, HEMA, and Marketing to support product lifecycle.

  • Contribute medical/scientific input in product design, risk management, regulatory submissions, and labeling.

  • Assess safety profiles, evaluate clinical risks, and ensure appropriate risk-benefit balance.

  • Support medical safety and post-market surveillance by interpreting data from complaints, literature, and studies.

  • Serve as a medical expert in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

  • Review and approve medical claims and promotional content.

Lifecycle Management (LCM):

  • Maintain oversight of marketed products including medical labeling updates, technical documentation, and quality support.

  • Respond to Medical Information Requests and participate in Copy Approval and Clinical Evaluation Reports (CER).

  • Support risk evaluation and periodic safety reports.

Insight Management & Business Development:

  • Engage with external medical ecosystems (KOLs, societies, literature, etc.) to identify unmet needs and market trends.

  • Provide input for business strategies, product development, and global innovation agendas.

  • Validate Target Product Profiles and contribute to new business development initiatives.

Evidence Generation:

  • Collaborate on global evidence generation strategies.

  • Provide interpretation for clinical data and review publications and clinical study reports.


Required Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent.

  • Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency plus a 1-year fellowship in spine surgery, joint arthroplasty, or sports medicine.

  • 10+ years of relevant post-licensure surgical experience including practice, research, or related roles.

  • Preferred experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or medical device industry.

  • Deep understanding of clinical trends, risk-benefit assessment, and regulatory standards.

  • Strong patient-centered decision-making approach and stakeholder relationship skills.

  • US Board Certification (preferred).

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% (domestic/international).


Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Base Pay Range: $160,000 to $276,000
