Senior Biostatistician – Abbott | Alameda, CA

Job Summary:

Abbott’s Tech Ops division in Alameda, California is hiring a Senior Biostatistician to lead the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical trials and regulatory submissions. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in biostatistics and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in the pharmaceutical or medical device sectors. You’ll contribute to protocol design, statistical analysis plans, report generation, and provide scientific insights to global product development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to select study designs and statistical methodologies

  • Generate and validate randomization schedules, power calculations, and sample sizes

  • Oversee data quality for statistical analysis

  • Develop and implement statistical analysis plans for clinical trials

  • Contribute to clinical trial reports, scientific publications, and regulatory documents

  • Communicate statistical findings to stakeholders, including regulatory agencies

  • Mentor and supervise junior statisticians and programmers

  • Participate in regulatory activities and represent statistical input for submissions

  • Lead internal training and process improvement initiatives in statistical methods


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Statistics or Mathematics required

  • MS/MA with 5+ years or PhD with 3+ years of experience in biostatistics or related field preferred

  • Strong proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., SAS, R)

  • In-depth understanding of ICH-GCP guidelines, FDA/EMA statistical expectations

  • Experience in clinical trial protocol development and regulatory compliance

  • Proven ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-statisticians

  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and project coordination experience

  • Experience with statistical input for regulatory submissions is a plus
