Associate Director, Clinical Research – Abbott | Plymouth, MN

Job Summary:

Abbott is hiring an Associate Director of Clinical Research for its Electrophysiology Medical Device division in Plymouth, Minnesota. This leadership role is ideal for seasoned professionals with 10+ years of clinical research experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. The position involves strategic planning and execution of global clinical programs to support regulatory submissions, product development, and commercial success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex clinical research programs across functional areas and geographies

  • Represent Clinical Affairs in regulatory meetings, advisory boards, and due diligence evaluations

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices

  • Oversee budget planning, study contracts, clinical evaluations, and risk management activities

  • Manage and mentor cross-functional teams and clinical operations staff

  • Collaborate with Regulatory, R&D, Quality, Marketing, and Commercial teams

  • Guide strategic development of clinical evidence to support global submissions and market access

  • Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, external experts, and professional societies

  • Ensure high-quality execution of clinical studies through vendor oversight and internal alignment

  • Drive data-driven decision-making and problem resolution across teams


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field (advanced degree preferred)

  • 10+ years of clinical research experience in the medical device or pharma industry

  • Demonstrated leadership in global clinical program strategy and execution

  • Knowledge of IDE submissions, risk management, and clinical evaluation processes

  • Prior experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors

  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Global experience is highly desirable
