Role Overview

The Manager – Statistical Programming leads programming teams and oversees project delivery within global clinical trials. The role involves end-to-end statistical programming, team leadership, and project management across multiple therapeutic areas and clinical phases (I–IV).

You’ll manage programming deliverables, ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance, and support continuous process improvement across the programming function.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage a team of 20+ Statistical Programmers to ensure timely and quality deliverables.

  2. Oversee end-to-end programming activities, including development of SDTM, ADaM, and TLF outputs.

  3. Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with project timelines, metrics, and quality standards.

  4. Participate in project planning, resourcing, and metrics tracking to support organizational goals.

  5. Guide programmers in writing specifications for SDTM and ADaM datasets and in developing validated SAS programs.

  6. Conduct safety and efficacy programming for clinical studies across Phases I–IV.

  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Biostatistics, Data Management, and Clinical Operations.

  8. Support process optimization, automation initiatives, and adoption of R or Python where applicable.

  9. Mentor and develop programming staff through coaching, feedback, and technical training.

  10. Represent the statistical programming function in internal and sponsor meetings, contributing to strategy and decision-making.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 7+ years in Clinical Statistical Programming, with 2+ years in project and people management.

    • Strong hands-on experience in SDTM, ADaM, and TLF development.

    • Proven experience in managing large teams (20+ members) and overseeing project metrics.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Base SAS / Advanced SAS.

    • Experience in Safety & Efficacy programming.

    • Knowledge of R or Python (preferred).

  • Domain Knowledge: Exposure to multiple therapeutic areas (TA) and clinical phases I–IV.

  • Soft Skills: Leadership, decision-making, time management, and communication excellence.
