Job Title: Manager of Quality and Safety

Company: AMCO Proteins and American Custom Drying

Job Overview:

The Manager of Quality and Safety at AMCO Proteins and its sister company, American Custom Drying, will act as the primary liaison for comprehensive quality assurance. This role involves ensuring compliance with various standards, analyzing quality data, managing customer complaints, and overseeing quality teams and programs.

Job Duties:

  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with operating conditions, HACCP, Safety, Food Safety, cGMP, and CAPA.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Analyze QA and QC data according to customer specifications.
  • Customer Complaints:
    • Manage the end-to-end customer complaint process.
  • Quality Teams Oversight:
    • Oversee Quality Teams (HACCP, Internal Audit, SQF) and coordinate the environmental program.
  • Defect Management:
    • Handle defect classification and recommend product disposition on non-compliance reports.
  • Sanitation and Pest Control:
    • Supervise plant sanitation and pest control programs.
  • Regulatory Liaison:
    • Execute QA procedures, serving as the vital link between the plants and regulatory agencies.
  • Audit and Training Management:
    • Manage audits, facilitate employee training, create and maintain SOPs and SSOPs, and provide effective oversight of Quality Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Quality and Food Safety.
    • Proven experience in a leadership role within quality management, preferably in the food industry.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of SQF, HACCP, cGMP, PCQI, and regulatory requirements.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of organic certification processes preferred.
