Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Manager, Investigator Site Services to oversee daily operational performance, team leadership, and service delivery within our Global Central Laboratory in Highland Heights, Kentucky (Cincinnati metropolitan area). This role is fully onsite and responsible for ensuring high-quality support to investigator sites while partnering closely with internal laboratory teams.

Position Summary

The Manager, Investigator Site Services will lead a large team responsible for operational coordination with investigator sites. This role ensures timely issue resolution, service efficiency, and compliance with internal standards. The manager will act as a key liaison between investigator sites, functional laboratory teams, and internal departments while supporting process improvements and audit readiness.


Key Responsibilities

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Manage and mentor staff, including hiring, training, performance management, professional development, and workload allocation.

  • Approve decisions related to salary, hiring, corrective actions, and terminations.

  • Oversee time records, leave requests, overtime, and expense reports.

  • Maintain appropriate staffing to meet client and business demands.

  • Ensure daily departmental activities are completed efficiently and issues are resolved promptly.

Site Services and Process Oversight

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for departmental software systems.

  • Ensure all site deliverables—kits, manuals, instruction sheets, and other materials—meet client expectations.

  • Assess departmental processes and SOPs to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Lead new-hire training initiatives and implement training updates when processes evolve.

  • Contribute to the development of user requirements for service enhancements.

  • Support sponsor audits and ensure audit readiness at all times.

  • Provide backup support to team leads and the management team.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic or vocational qualification.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in clinical research operations, laboratory services, site management, or related fields.

  • At least 1 year of leadership experience managing teams or supervising staff.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and directly relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods during standard working hours.

  • Ability to learn and operate standard office equipment and digital tools.

  • Must work effectively under pressure while managing multiple responsibilities.

  • Occasional travel to nearby locations may be required; overnight travel is minimal.

  • Ability to communicate and interpret information clearly across diverse groups.
