Laboratory Quality & Education Specialist – UCLA Health (Los Angeles, CA)

Job Summary

UCLA Health is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Quality & Education Specialist to join its clinical laboratory team in Los Angeles. This full-time, on-site position plays a critical role in ensuring laboratory quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous education for clinical laboratory professionals. Salary Range: $112,900 – $256,900 annually.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead education programs for CLS students, staff orientation, and continuing education

  • Support and enhance laboratory safety and quality programs

  • Monitor and review proficiency testing and quality metrics

  • Conduct technical reviews, assessments, and internal audits

  • Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures

  • Investigate nonconformities and drive root cause analysis

  • Track trends in quality data to improve lab processes and mitigate risk

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CLIA, CAP, state licensure, and accreditation standards across lab operations


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field

  • California CLS License (or equivalent) highly preferred

  • Extensive experience in laboratory quality systems and regulatory compliance

  • Knowledge of clinical lab operations, audits, proficiency testing, and QMS

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in staff training and education programs within healthcare or academic labs

  • Familiarity with CAP, CLIA, and state licensing requirements
