Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Core Lab | UCLA Health, Los Angeles

Job Summary:
UCLA Health is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to perform diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures in its Core Lab department. This role is integral to providing accurate, timely results across multiple disciplines including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunoassay, and blood gases. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing in Core Lab, Emergency, and Anesthesiology departments

  • Process specimens, prepare reagents, and develop laboratory methods

  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments across diagnostic areas

  • Conduct quality control, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures

  • Document and enter test results accurately into the lab information system

  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory protocols

  • Rotate through assigned shifts starting between 6:00am to 7:00am (8-hour day shifts)

  • Work weekdays with rotating weekend and holiday duties


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license issued by the State of California

  • Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory preferred

  • Proficiency in core lab disciplines: chemistry, hematology, immunoassay, coagulation

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

  • Attention to detail with high standards for accuracy and compliance
