About the Department

The Medical Communications, Rare Disease Product & Portfolio Strategy (P&PS) team is part of Novo Nordisk Global Business Services and operates in close collaboration with Global Medical Affairs headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. The team comprises global scientific advisors, medical advisors, publication managers, project managers, and creative specialists who collectively support global medical strategy, scientific communication, publication planning, and external medical engagement.

The department operates in a dynamic, fast-paced global environment with a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence across rare disease therapy areas.


Position Overview

Novo Nordisk is seeking an experienced Global Scientific Advisor to support its Rare Disease portfolio within Global Medical Affairs. This strategic role is responsible for leading scientific communication initiatives, developing high-quality medical content, and supporting global medical education and publication activities.

The successful candidate will serve as a therapeutic-area expert, contribute to global medical strategy, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external scientific experts to ensure scientifically accurate, compliant, and impactful medical communication.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership and Strategy

  • Act as a therapeutic-area expert across rare bleeding disorders, haemoglobinopathies, and rare endocrine conditions.

  • Provide scientific leadership to support global medical and clinical strategies aligned with product and portfolio priorities.

Medical Communications and Content Development

  • Lead the development, review, and approval of scientific and omni-channel engagement materials, including slide decks, graphical abstracts, medical education content, and congress materials.

  • Ensure all content meets scientific accuracy, medical appropriateness, and regulatory compliance standards.

  • Provide internal medical guidance by prioritizing launch timelines and ensuring accuracy of scientific data in all communication materials.

Global Medical Affairs Support

  • Support global medical events including symposia, advisory boards, scientific programs, and continuing medical education initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs, Medical Excellence, and focus markets to ensure alignment and consistency in scientific messaging.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

  • Engage with internal stakeholders and external key opinion leaders (KOLs) to strengthen scientific dialogue and knowledge exchange.

  • Mentor and support new team members while contributing to team capability building.

Innovation and Process Excellence

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, value creation, and innovation in medical communication.

  • Utilize and support the development of AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and quality in medical communication activities.


Qualifications

  • MD or PhD with strong clinical and/or research expertise in a relevant therapeutic area such as Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, or General Practice.

  • Additional education or professional experience in medical communications or medical affairs is highly desirable.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in Medical Affairs and/or Medical Communications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical medicine, clinical research, and drug development.

  • Proven track record of independently planning and executing global medical events, including advisory boards, symposia, and scientific education programs.

  • Experience developing high-quality, compliant scientific content for global audiences.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong scientific writing and content development capabilities.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and influence at a global level.

  • High level of regulatory and compliance awareness in medical affairs.

  • Familiarity with AI tools and their application in medical communications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
