Job Overview

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly motivated Global Medical Advisor – Diabetes (IO-SO) to join its Medical Affairs–Operations Global Business Services (GBS) team in Bangalore. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a truly international medical affairs environment, collaborating with global medical leaders, regions, and affiliates to support strategic medical initiatives in diabetes and related therapeutic areas.

The Global Medical Advisor will serve as a scientific and medical subject matter expert, delivering high-quality medical insights, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement aligned with Novo Nordisk’s global medical affairs strategy.


About the Department

Medical Affairs–Operations is part of Novo Nordisk’s Global Business Services (GBS) organization based in Bangalore, India. The department supports international operations, regions, and affiliates across multiple functions including medical affairs, analytics, communications, and supply chain.

The team comprises medical and scientific advisors, medical writers, publication managers, project managers, and designers, working in close collaboration with Global Medical Affairs HQ in Søborg, Denmark, and International Operations – Strategic Operations (IO-SO).


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute global medical affairs strategies aligned with organizational and therapeutic priorities

  • Generate, interpret, and communicate scientific and clinical data to ensure accurate positioning of diabetes products

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and compliant medical education to internal and external stakeholders

  • Act as a medical liaison to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), supporting advisory boards, congresses, symposia, and scientific meetings

  • Lead publication planning activities and ensure high-quality scientific content for abstracts, posters, and manuscripts

  • Provide medical and scientific input to cross-functional teams including marketing, regulatory, legal, R&D, quality, and global safety

  • Extract actionable insights from KOL interactions to inform strategy and lifecycle planning

  • Engage with global healthcare professionals, research institutions, professional associations, and patient organizations

  • Coach and support junior medical colleagues and contribute to cross-functional and high-impact global projects


Qualifications & Experience

Educational Background

  • MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in medicine, life sciences, or a related healthcare discipline

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

  • Strong clinical and/or research background in Diabetes Mellitus

  • Experience in drug development and advanced scientific analysis is preferred

  • Prior experience in Medical Affairs is highly desirable


Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and global healthcare systems

  • Excellent scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills

  • Proven ability to engage with global stakeholders and KOLs

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate scientific data into actionable medical insights

  • Proficiency in leveraging digital tools, analytics, and emerging technologies (including AI-based tools)

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and thrive in a matrixed global environment
