Associate Director – Global Compensation

Role Summary

The Associate Director – Global Compensation is a senior Total Rewards leader responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving compensation, rewards, recognition, and related Total Rewards programs across global markets. This role partners closely with global HR teams, business leaders, HR Shared Services, and external vendors to ensure compensation programs are competitive, compliant, equitable, and aligned with Apotex’s business and people strategy.

The position provides global compensation expertise across key locations including India, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Gulf Region, while acting as a strategic partner for the India HR team on compensation, payroll-linked rewards processes, benefits coordination, union compensation matters, and Total Rewards governance.

Key Responsibilities

Global Compensation & Total Rewards Strategy

  • Provide technical expertise in the design, governance, and monitoring of global compensation and reward programs.

  • Align compensation and rewards programs with business strategy, market competitiveness, employee experience, and talent retention objectives.

  • Review and recommend changes to reward programs based on:

    • Business Requirements

    • Market Practices

    • Economic Conditions

    • Regulatory Requirements

  • Support global Total Rewards strategy across India, Canada, USA, Mexico, and the Gulf Region.

  • Drive harmonization and consistency of compensation policies and practices across global locations.

Annual Compensation Review & Incentive Programs

  • Manage the annual global compensation review process for employees across regions.

  • Support annual salary budget recommendations and merit review administration.

  • Administer annual incentive programs, including:

    • Short-Term Incentive Plans

    • Annual Bonus Programs

    • Global Incentive Programs

    • Equity or Management Equity Programs

  • Prepare cost projections for current-year compensation planning.

  • Support target setting for upcoming-year incentive programs.

  • Prepare, recommend, manage, and report annual merit and short-term incentive budgets.

Compensation Analytics, Reporting & Governance

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret compensation data from global locations.

  • Prepare compensation metrics and reports covering:

    • Market Trends

    • Pay Positioning

    • Merit Budgets

    • Incentive Payouts

    • Compensation Cost Projections

  • Develop compensation proposals and recommendations for business and HR leaders.

  • Support data-driven decision-making through strong analytics and presentation of insights.

  • Ensure compensation programs are administered with financial discipline and governance.

Rewards, Recognition & Employee Experience

  • Manage and support global rewards and recognition programs.

  • Coordinate with HR Shared Services and recognition vendors such as Workhuman to administer BRAVO!, the global recognition program.

  • Ensure reward and recognition programs strengthen employee engagement, motivation, and retention.

  • Support communication, delivery, and measurement of recognition initiatives.

HR Systems & Total Rewards Technology

  • Support SAP SuccessFactors implementation and optimization, specifically for:

    • Compensation Module

    • Benefits Administration

    • India Region

    • Gulf Region

  • Collaborate with HRIS and Total Rewards teams to ensure system accuracy and process effectiveness.

  • Use HR technology and analytics tools to improve compensation processes and reporting.

  • Leverage digital tools, AI, and automation opportunities to enhance HR operations.

India Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Responsibilities

  • Lead rollout of global Total Rewards initiatives for Apotex India, including:

    • Annual Merit Review

    • Short-Term Incentive Programs

    • GAIP / APIP Incentives

    • Equity / MEP Programs

    • Other Assigned Compensation Programs

  • Ensure effective execution of payroll-linked Total Rewards processes including:

    • Payroll Processing

    • Full & Final Settlement

    • Compensation Revision Implementation

  • Oversee payroll administration for Apotex India entities:

    • ARPL

    • APIPL

  • Ensure payroll and compensation processes comply with statutory and company requirements.

Benefits & Policy Harmonization

  • Support the Global Benefits Team in delivering employee benefit plans for India, including:

    • National Pension System (NPS)

    • Medical Insurance

    • Group Personal Accident (GPA)

    • Group Term Life (GTL)

    • Other Employee Benefit Programs

  • Harmonize Total Rewards policies, processes, and programs across India entities.

  • Support benefits and rewards program implementation for the Gulf Region.

  • Ensure benefits programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with employee needs.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Discipline

  • Prepare headcount and operating expense budgets and forecasts.

  • Monitor monthly budget targets and conduct variance reviews.

  • Partner with Finance and HR stakeholders to ensure compensation budgets are accurate and well-governed.

  • Maintain strong financial discipline in Total Rewards planning and execution.

Union Compensation & Collective Bargaining Support

  • Support India union collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

  • Implement annual compensation revisions and related programs in line with union agreements.

  • Provide compensation insights and data to support negotiation strategy.

  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining commitments.

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Partner with:

    • Global Total Rewards Team

    • HR Business Partners

    • India HR Team

    • HR Shared Services

    • Finance

    • Business Leaders

    • External Vendors

  • Influence stakeholders and educate HR partners on compensation programs and policies.

  • Build trust-based relationships through transparent and effective communication.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee growth.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • University Degree / Graduation in:

    • Human Resources

    • Business Administration

    • Finance

    • Economics

    • Commerce

    • Related Field

Experience

  • 12–15 years of progressive compensation experience.

  • Experience in:

    • Global Compensation

    • Total Rewards

    • Benefits

    • Recognition Programs

    • HR Operations

  • Experience working in a global or multinational organization.

  • Experience supporting compensation programs across India and one or more of the following regions:

    • Canada

    • United States

    • Mexico

    • Gulf Region

  • Experience working with HCM platforms such as:

    • SAP SuccessFactors

    • Workday

    • Oracle HCM
