Position Overview:
Gilead is seeking a highly motivated Director of US Medical Affairs to lead scientific engagement for HIV prevention initiatives in the Central US. This role focuses on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) education, engagement with healthcare providers (HCPs), and collaboration with Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The ideal candidate will combine medical expertise, strategic leadership, and a patient-centric approach to advance HIV prevention education and treatment alignment with current guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Medical Engagement

  • Lead HIV prevention education and engagement initiatives, focusing on IDNs and FQHCs to ensure treatment practices, protocols, and order sets align with latest scientific evidence.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access) to align HIV prevention content across channels.

  • Deliver high-impact virtual scientific discussions, webinars, and medical education programs for HCPs and organizational stakeholders.

  • Maintain scientific rigor and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with commercial, regulatory, and medical teams to integrate medical insights into external engagement strategies.

  • Translate complex scientific and clinical data into actionable insights for HCPs and healthcare decision-makers.

Scientific Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Stay current on HIV prevention research, treatment guidelines, and regulatory updates.

  • Represent Gilead in external medical forums, engage KOLs, and strengthen the scientific reputation of the company.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure all medical content and virtual engagement activities adhere to company and regulatory standards.

  • Uphold scientific integrity and quality assurance across all deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD, PhD, or other advanced healthcare/life sciences degrees.

  • Minimum 5 years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in infectious diseases, HIV, vaccines, or related therapeutic areas.

  • Strong knowledge of US healthcare systems, including IDNs, FQHCs, payers, and policy frameworks.

  • Excellent scientific writing, verbal, and presentation skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex scientific data and translate findings into actionable medical insights.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Proactive, autonomous, and solutions-oriented mindset, with cross-functional collaboration experience.

  • Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings, conferences, or team collaborations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Bay Area: $243,100 – $314,600

  • Other US Locations: $221,000 – $286,000

  • Eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
