Role Overview

The Vice President, Head of Global Translational Medicine & Research is a senior leadership position responsible for shaping and executing translational strategies across Genmab’s diversified portfolio of antibody therapeutics. This role leads a global team of 60+ scientists across the US and Netherlands, integrating preclinical and clinical translational science to inform trial design, biomarker strategy, and clinical decision-making.

This position reports to the Head of Translational & Quantitative Sciences and will be a key member of the Translational & Quantitative Sciences Leadership Team.

Hybrid work model: 60% onsite in Princeton, NJ or Utrecht, NL.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Scientific Leadership

  • Lead global translational medicine efforts across all stages of drug development.

  • Develop and implement actionable hypotheses for trial design, dose optimization, patient stratification, combinations, and efficacy monitoring.

  • Provide scientific oversight for preclinical and clinical translational data packages, ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.

  • Apply innovative technologies, including AI/ML, to enhance translational insights and accelerate asset development.

  • Ensure integration of translational content into regulatory submissions (INDs, BLAs, protocols, reports).

External Engagement

  • Represent Genmab’s translational science at global conferences, expert panels, and academic collaborations.

  • Engage with key opinion leaders, technology partners, and foundations to advance translational initiatives.

  • Oversee scientific writing for publications, patents, regulatory documents, and external presentations.

  • Support patient advocacy and engagement initiatives.

Team Development & Culture

  • Lead workforce planning, capability development, and performance management for a high-performing global team.

  • Promote scientific excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.

  • Foster employee engagement, mentoring, and continuous feedback to optimize team productivity and innovation.


Qualifications

  • PhD or MD/PhD in Immunology, Oncology, Molecular Biology, or a relevant scientific field.

  • 15–20+ years of biotech/pharma experience with leadership in translational medicine or biomarker strategy.

  • Proven ability to influence drug development decisions from preclinical to late-stage programs.

  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary, global teams.

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic leadership skills.

  • Commitment to scientific excellence and innovation in translational research.


Compensation & Benefits (U.S.)

Salary Range: $266,640 – $399,960 annually (based on skills, experience, and location)
