Role Overview

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Global Medical Advisor – Diabetes to join its Medical Affairs–Operations (GBS) team in Bengaluru. This role is ideal for experienced medical or life sciences professionals who are passionate about scientific exchange, therapy-area strategy, and global stakeholder engagement within the pharmaceutical industry.

As a Global Medical Advisor, you will serve as a subject matter expert supporting international operations and strategic initiatives across regions and affiliates. The position involves close collaboration with global medical leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality scientific communication and evidence-based medical guidance aligned with Novo Nordisk’s global medical affairs strategy.


About Medical Affairs – Operations (GBS)

Medical Affairs–Operations is part of Novo Nordisk’s Global Business Services unit in India, supporting global medical, scientific, and operational activities. The team comprises medical advisors, scientific writers, publication managers, project managers, and creative specialists who collaborate with International Operations – Strategic Operations (IO-SO), regional teams, affiliates, and Global Medical Affairs headquarters in Denmark.

The department’s mission is to ensure accurate, compliant, and impactful communication of medical and scientific data to internal and external stakeholders worldwide.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute global medical affairs strategies aligned with organizational and therapeutic priorities.

  • Generate, interpret, and communicate scientific data to support appropriate positioning of diabetes therapies.

  • Deliver accurate, timely, and credible medical education to internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Act as a medical liaison to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), supporting advisory boards, scientific meetings, and symposia.

  • Lead publication planning activities and ensure scientific integrity of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations.

  • Provide medical and scientific input to marketing, regulatory, legal, safety, and R&D teams as required.

  • Extract actionable insights from KOL interactions to inform product strategy and lifecycle planning.

  • Engage with global professional associations, healthcare professionals, investigators, and patient organizations.

  • Mentor junior medical colleagues and contribute to cross-functional, high-impact global initiatives.

  • Leverage digital and AI-enabled tools to enhance data-driven medical decision-making.


Qualifications & Experience

  • MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in medicine, life sciences, or healthcare.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry within clinical research or medical affairs.

  • Strong clinical and/or research background in diabetes mellitus or related therapeutic areas.

  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and global healthcare systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in scientific communication, data interpretation, and medical strategy execution.

  • Prior experience in a Medical Affairs role is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a global, matrix-driven environment.
