Position Overview:
Gilead seeks a highly motivated Director of US Medical Affairs to lead scientific engagement for HIV prevention in the Western US. This role emphasizes patient-centric care for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), direct engagement with healthcare providers (HCPs), and collaboration with Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The ideal candidate will combine medical expertise, strategic leadership, and effective cross-functional collaboration to drive evidence-based HIV prevention education and support alignment of treatment practices with current guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Medical Engagement

  • Lead HIV prevention education and engagement initiatives, focusing on IDNs and FQHCs to ensure protocols, order sets, and treatment practices align with latest evidence.

  • Provide cross-functional support to internal stakeholders, including Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Market Access teams, to ensure alignment of HIV prevention content.

  • Deliver high-impact virtual scientific discussions, webinars, and online medical education programs.

  • Maintain scientific rigor and compliance with Gilead’s regulatory, legal, and company standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with commercial, regulatory, and medical teams to integrate medical insights into engagement strategies.

  • Translate complex scientific and clinical data into actionable insights for HCPs and healthcare decision-makers.

Scientific Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Stay current on HIV prevention research, guidelines, and regulatory updates.

  • Represent Gilead in external forums, engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs) and HCPs to educate and advance HIV prevention efforts.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure all engagement activities are compliant with company and regulatory standards.

  • Uphold scientific integrity and quality assurance across all deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD, PhD, or other advanced healthcare/life sciences degree.

  • Minimum 5 years of Medical Affairs experience in pharmaceutical industry, ideally in infectious diseases, HIV, vaccines, or COVID-19 therapeutic areas.

  • Strong understanding of US healthcare landscape including IDNs, FQHCs, HCPs, payers, and policy frameworks.

  • Excellent scientific writing, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex scientific data and translate findings into actionable insights.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Proactive, autonomous, and collaborative mindset.

  • Occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or team collaboration may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Bay Area: $243,100 – $314,600

  • Other US Locations: $221,000 – $286,000

  • Eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock-based incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
