Job Summary

Abbott is hiring a Field Clinical Specialists Lead for its Structural Heart division based in Abbott Park, IL. This pivotal role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to advanced clinical trial activities, procedural planning, and patient management in the field of structural heart therapies. Ideal for experienced clinical professionals with strong cardiology and interventional procedural expertise, this role ensures superior patient care and supports the development and adoption of cutting-edge medical devices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical education, procedural coverage, and technical support to healthcare professionals.

  • Train surgeons, interventional cardiologists, cath lab staff, and ancillary personnel on Structural Heart products.

  • Oversee procedural planning, patient selection, peri-operative management, and post-operative care in clinical trials.

  • Process and interpret Echo and CT studies of trial participants.

  • Ensure regulatory and protocol compliance across clinical study sites.

  • Manage site training sessions for therapy and patient care requirements.

  • Identify, evaluate, and report adverse events ensuring proper documentation and regulatory adherence.

  • Prepare case summaries and clinical data reports for internal review.

  • Collaborate with advisors to assess product performance and clinical outcomes.

  • Communicate clinical insights and data to relevant stakeholders, supporting marketing strategy development.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent related work experience.

  • Minimum 9+ years of relevant clinical experience, especially in cardiac or interventional procedures.

  • Expertise in CT CAD software and Echo analysis.

  • Strong clinical background in cardiac surgery and heart failure management.

  • Knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques.

  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring devices and cardiac hemodynamics.

  • Mechanical aptitude for medical device assembly.

  • Ability to travel up to 80% (domestic and international).

  • Clean DMV record.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or medical training (RN, Perfusionist, PA, etc.).

  • Prior experience with interventional cardiology devices and procedures highly desirable.
