Field Clinical Specialist – Structural Heart

Role Overview:
Abbott is seeking an experienced Field Clinical Specialist to support its Structural Heart division. The Field Clinical Specialist will provide clinical and technical expertise for interventional cardiology and structural heart procedures, driving clinical program success while ensuring protocol compliance, regulatory adherence, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Program Management:

  • Plan and manage complex clinical development programs, coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve strategic goals and milestones.

  • Oversee budget management, contract development, and financial tracking for clinical programs and cost centers.

  • Critically review vendor and CRO proposals to ensure alignment with clinical and regulatory objectives.

  • Support leadership with clinical insights for regulatory, strategic, and business decisions.

Procedural & Technical Expertise:

  • Train and support physicians, interventional cardiologists, catheter lab staff, and ancillary personnel in Structural Heart procedures.

  • Provide technical guidance during live procedures and troubleshoot procedural challenges.

  • Apply advanced knowledge to interpret Echo and CT studies for patient selection and clinical trial eligibility.

  • Ensure compliance with protocol, regulatory policies, and ethical standards in all clinical activities.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Serve as the clinical resource for study teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and site personnel.

  • Communicate clinical, product, and market information effectively through presentations, technical discussions, and strategic meetings.

  • Maintain close collaboration with directors, project managers, finance, and global clinical teams to ensure program success.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in life sciences or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 6–8 years of relevant clinical experience in interventional cardiology or cardiac surgery.

  • Strong clinical understanding of heart failure, cardiac hemodynamics, and hemodynamic monitoring devices.

  • Experience with imaging analysis, including CT CAD software and echocardiography interpretation.

  • Knowledge of sterile technique and aseptic procedures; able to wear lead apron for extended interventional procedures.

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including international travel.

  • Clean DMV record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or medical training (RN, Perfusionist, PA, or equivalent).

  • Experience in medical device or interventional cardiology industry.

  • Familiarity with clinical products, procedural workflows, and imaging modalities in structural heart interventions.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base pay: $99,300 – $198,700 (location-dependent).
