Role Overview

Abbott is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrophysiology (EP) Field Clinical Specialist to support its Electrophysiology Business Unit (EP BU) across the Central and Western United States. This is a field-based, remote role requiring extensive travel and hands-on clinical expertise.

The Senior EP Field Clinical Specialist serves as a clinical, technical, and research expert, providing advanced support for EP clinical trials, investigational technologies, and therapy areas. This role is critical in supporting clinical research execution, site performance, investigator engagement, and cross-functional collaboration across Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial teams.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Trial & Field Support

  • Provide on-site and remote field support for EP clinical research studies, including patient enrollment and procedural execution.

  • Serve as a technical, protocol, and clinical trial expert for Abbott stakeholders, physicians, and research personnel.

  • Support investigational procedures using Abbott EP technologies and ensure protocol adherence.

  • Troubleshoot complex technical, procedural, and protocol-related issues in EP and Cath Lab environments.

Site Management & Territory Development

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of clinical research sites within the assigned territory.

  • Lead site qualification activities, including nomination, assessment, and expectation setting.

  • Facilitate contract and budget escalations during study startup.

  • Train site staff on protocol requirements, technology usage, and study workflows.

  • Develop site-specific enrollment strategies and proactively address enrollment challenges.

  • Monitor study progress and provide continuous feedback to optimize patient safety, data quality, and trial performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Clinical Scientists, Clinical Site Leads, Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, and Commercial teams.

  • Provide field-based insights on study design, procedural workflows, and product performance.

  • Act as a scientific interface between Abbott and healthcare professionals.

  • Serve as a pipeline of clinical, technical, and competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders.

Leadership & Expertise

  • Function as a regional clinical and technical expert in electrophysiology.

  • Identify, document, and share best practices in clinical trial execution and territory management.

  • Mentor and support Field Clinical Specialist colleagues.

  • Serve as a study champion and contribute to national-level initiatives when required.

  • Participate in advisory boards, product evaluations, and high-profile clinical presentations.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related field; equivalent certifications in Cardiology or Electrophysiology are acceptable.

  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible clinical experience in the cardiovascular or electrophysiology field.

  • At least 2–3 years of experience supporting clinical trials or investigational studies in EP or cardiovascular therapies.

  • Strong background in EP lab and/or Cath Lab procedures and protocols.

  • Demonstrated experience with site qualification, enrollment strategies, and protocol compliance.

  • Proven ability to integrate EP technical expertise with clinical research operations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder influence skills.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to travel up to 80% and lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Recognized as a clinical and technical expert beyond the local territory.


Compensation

The base salary range for this position is USD 78,000 – 156,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary based on business needs and market factors.
