Director, Medical Affairs – Princeton, NJ (Remote/Hybrid)

Abbott is hiring a Director of Medical Affairs to lead strategic initiatives across the Americas for its Point of Care (POC) diagnostic portfolio. Based in Princeton, NJ, this leadership role blends scientific expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and people management in the diagnostic and medical device sector. Candidates with MD, DO, or PhD qualifications and over 10 years’ experience in healthcare or industry roles are encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team across the Americas

  • Shape and execute global Medical & Scientific Affairs strategy with EMEA/APAC partners

  • Ensure compliance in all scientific communications and documentation

  • Drive field-level integration of strategic initiatives between commercial and clinical teams

  • Represent Abbott Medical Affairs at congresses, stakeholder meetings, and educational forums

  • Develop internal and external clinical education materials

  • Lead Medical Advisory Boards and support product launches (e.g., TBI biomarker, troponin)

  • Oversee ad promo content reviews and regulatory collaboration

  • Manage assigned budgets and resource allocations effectively

  • Guide MSL team operations, KOL management, and collaborative research initiatives


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or PhD in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Critical Care

  • Minimum 10 years of experience, including:

    • 3+ years of direct patient care after residency

    • 5+ years in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry

  • Proven track record in:

    • Medical Affairs leadership

    • MSL team management and training

    • Regulatory and scientific content compliance

    • Budget planning and operational execution

  • Exceptional communication and public speaking skills

  • Experience in diagnostics, point-of-care testing, or rapid blood analysis tools
