The Statistical Research and Innovation (SRI) role at Pfizer provides scientific leadership and technical support for both clinical and non-clinical projects. This position focuses on advancing drug development methodologies through statistical expertise and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role also includes a balance of project-specific work, longer-term research, training, and external professional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Statistical Advice & Consultation:

    • Provide expert statistical guidance on complex problems in Pfizer projects.
    • Consult with the Statistics Leadership Team and Pfizer management in Discovery, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and other departments.
    • Contribute to key decisions (e.g., go/no decisions, regulatory strategies, product defense).
  2. Methodology Development:

    • Lead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art statistical methods.
    • Promote the use of novel study designs and data analysis techniques.
    • Assist in the development of specialized software to support these methods.
  3. Collaboration & Networking:

    • Develop strong internal collaborations with non-statistical researchers (Clinical, PharmSci, Safety, etc.).
    • Influence external regulatory guidelines through collaboration and scholarship with academia, industry, and government statisticians.
    • Stay current with advancements in statistical methodology relevant to Pfizer’s business needs.
  4. Leadership & Mentorship:

    • Disseminate statistical knowledge, methodologies, and regulatory guidelines to the team and beyond.
    • Mentor junior statisticians and provide leadership in statistical thought and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field, with at least 7 years of experience in drug development. Candidates with less experience but strong research credentials may also be considered.
    • Proven ability to communicate complex statistical concepts effectively.
    • Broad understanding of statistical theory and its application to drug development.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Bayesian statistics and high-performance computing.
  • Additional Skills:

    • Demonstrated thought-leadership and scholarly presence, with evidence of publications or presentations.
    • Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, mentor others, and drive meaningful outcomes.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $161,600 to $269,400 annually, with an additional 20% bonus target.
