Role Overview
The Director, Biometrics – Clinical Database Programming serves as the senior-most biometrics leader in India, providing strategic and operational oversight across the regional biometrics function. This leadership position drives global alignment, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and high-quality delivery across clinical database programming, biostatistics, and data science initiatives.
The role requires strong experience in global CRO or pharmaceutical environments, expertise in clinical trial standards, and the ability to translate global strategy into regional operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Lead the Biometrics function across India, aligning regional operations with global biometrics objectives.
Participate in global strategy discussions to enhance end-to-end clinical biometrics service delivery.
Collaborate with global heads of Biostatistics, Programming, and Data Science to implement strategic initiatives locally.
Operational Excellence & Quality Management
Oversee development and refinement of SOPs, Work Instructions, and templates aligned with global regulatory standards.
Lead root cause analysis and quality improvement initiatives in response to audit findings and compliance issues.
Drive continuous process optimization using methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
Clinical Programming & Technical Oversight
Ensure adherence to CDISC standards including SDTM and ADaM.
Oversee clinical database programming and regulatory submission readiness for agencies such as FDA and EMA.
Provide strategic oversight of data management, statistical programming, and biostatistical analysis activities.
Training & Workforce Development
Lead training, credentialing, onboarding, and professional development programs for Biometrics teams.
Ensure compliance with certification processes through the Learning Management System (LMS).
Mentor and coach senior biometrics leaders and support succession planning.
Stakeholder & Financial Management
Engage internal and external stakeholders to foster cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
Support Biometrics Business Unit financial targets through workforce planning, resource optimization, and budget management.
Lead recruitment and talent development strategies aligned with global business goals.
Required Qualifications
Education
Master’s or Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
Experience
12–15 years of progressive experience in clinical research and biometrics, including clinical programming.
Minimum 5 years in senior leadership, regional, or global management roles.
Experience in global CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech environments managing multinational teams.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes and statistical methodologies.
Expertise in CDISC standards (SDTM, ADaM) and regulatory submission requirements (FDA, EMA).
Proficiency in statistical programming tools such as SAS, R, or Python.
Familiarity with enterprise clinical systems such as Medidata, Oracle Clinical, or Veeva.
Leadership & Business Skills
Proven ability to manage large cross-functional biometrics teams across geographies.
Strong business acumen including budget oversight and P&L contribution.
Excellent communication, stakeholder influence, and strategic execution skills.
Demonstrated commitment to quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
