Job Summary

Syneos Health is seeking an accomplished Director, Business Development to drive revenue growth and strategic client expansion across a defined European territory. This senior commercial leadership role is responsible for balancing new business acquisition with the expansion of existing client partnerships within the biopharmaceutical and life sciences sector.

The role combines consultative selling, strategic account management, and data-driven territory planning to deliver sustainable growth while strengthening Syneos Health’s market presence. The Director, Business Development will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver integrated clinical and commercial solutions that address complex client needs.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Growth Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive regional business development strategy focused on new client acquisition and expansion of existing accounts

  • Manage a defined book of business using data-driven prioritization to optimize time, pipeline, and market opportunity

  • Drive short- and long-term revenue growth through targeted hunting and structured account farming strategies

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers, influencers, and key stakeholders across client organizations

  • Lead multi-touchpoint engagement plans aligned to client objectives, pipeline maturity, and therapeutic focus areas

  • Act as the internal voice of the client, sharing insights on client priorities, culture, and strategic direction to support solution development

Solution Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with operations, therapeutic strategy, deal strategy, and delivery teams to co-create tailored, value-driven proposals

  • Educate clients on Syneos Health’s differentiated clinical development and commercial capabilities

  • Drive account expansion through renewals, next-phase conversions, and therapeutic-aligned growth strategies

Pipeline & Performance Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date pipeline reporting, forecasts, and client activity within Salesforce or equivalent CRM platforms

  • Conduct regular territory and pipeline reviews, adjusting strategy based on performance, market shifts, and client needs

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive intelligence, and evolving customer requirements to refine engagement approaches

Market Representation

  • Represent Syneos Health at client meetings, industry conferences, and external events to strengthen brand visibility and identify new opportunities

  • Serve as a senior commercial ambassador within the biopharmaceutical and life sciences ecosystem


Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field is required

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline is strongly preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in business development, strategic sales, or commercial leadership within healthcare, life sciences, or biopharma

  • Demonstrated success managing complex, consultative B2B sales cycles and enterprise-level client relationships

  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth across defined geographic territories

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong consultative selling and solution-based sales expertise

  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills

  • Data-driven mindset with strong business acumen and strategic planning capability

  • High proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms and Microsoft Office tools

  • Highly organized, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced, matrixed environments

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% as required
