Job Overview

Syneos Health Communications is seeking an experienced Senior Strategy Director – EU Client Strategy to lead brand, creative, and omnichannel strategy across key European healthcare and life sciences accounts. Reporting to the Head of Client Strategy, EU, this senior leadership role is responsible for shaping high-impact strategic thinking for flagship agency clients, major new business pitches, and selective proactive business development initiatives.

This position plays a pivotal role in delivering insight-driven, scientifically grounded, and commercially effective strategies across integrated offerings including advertising, digital communications, medical communications, public and professional relations, and clinical trial recruitment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Client Advisory

  • Lead end-to-end brand and creative strategy development for assigned EU client accounts and new business initiatives

  • Ensure all strategic outputs are original, actionable, and aligned with client objectives, regulatory considerations, and market realities

  • Provide strategic direction across insight development, brand positioning, messaging frameworks, launch strategy, and concept validation

Integrated & Omnichannel Strategy

  • Maximize the use of internal, cross-disciplinary resources across advertising, digital, medical, PR, and clinical trial recruitment capabilities

  • Collaborate closely with Creative and Medical Strategy teams to ensure all deliverables are strategically sound and scientifically credible

  • Support EU regional and in-market teams, as well as global affiliates including the US, on large-scale regional and global opportunities

New Business & Thought Leadership

  • Lead and contribute to major EU and global new business pitches, including workshop facilitation and speculative outreach

  • Act as a strategic thought leader by researching emerging trends in healthcare communications, brand strategy, and AI-enabled insight generation

  • Collaborate with agency insight leadership to evolve research tools and strategic methodologies

Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders

  • Lead, inspire, and mentor strategists across London, Germany, and the wider EU network

  • Facilitate high-impact internal and external workshops with energy, clarity, and originality

  • Partner with Project Management to ensure delivery of strategic projects on time and within scope


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven expertise in omnichannel healthcare strategy across advertising, digital, medical communications, PR, and clinical trial recruitment

  • Strong experience leading strategic thinking for regional and global product launches

  • Ability to translate complex scientific and clinical data into compelling, actionable brand strategies

  • Advanced storytelling, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Demonstrated fluency in applying AI tools to enhance strategic insight, efficiency, and output quality

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence, challenge, and collaborate across senior teams and clients

  • Strong understanding of financial management, project budgets, and commercial considerations


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field

  • Advanced degree or formal strategy training is preferred

  • Minimum 10–12 years of experience in brand and creative strategy within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences agency environment

  • Proven leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary strategy teams and managing senior client relationships

  • Demonstrated success in EU and global healthcare markets
