Job Description
Position: Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA)
The Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA) supports clinical trials by maintaining organized files, performing pharmacy technician duties, and communicating with trial sites, coordinators, and patients while following good clinical practices and standard operating procedures. Clinical trials are designed to test new medications and medical devices for safety and efficacy and are highly regulated and monitored.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor study activities to ensure compliance with protocols and all relevant regulatory policies.
  • Maintain records such as case report forms, drug dispensation records, and regulatory forms.
  • Order drugs or devices for study completion.
  • Keep current knowledge of clinical study affairs by reviewing scientific literature, attending continuing education activities, and participating in seminars.
  • Prepare for and participate in quality assurance audits.
  • Organize space for study equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in developing study protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain contact with sponsors to schedule site visits and resolve issues.
  • Dispense medical devices or drugs, calculate dosages, and provide instructions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Expectations of the Job:

  • Organize and archive clinical trial documents such as study protocols, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Administer clinical trials according to good clinical practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide logistical support for clinical trials, entering subject and study site orders, and confirming deliveries of medications and supplies.
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Prior work experience in healthcare or life sciences; clinical trial experience preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong administrative skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Current State of Missouri Pharmacy Technician Registration required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Environment:
The physical and mental requirements include frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment is generally quiet with occasional interruptions.
