Job Overview:

The Laboratory/Sample Processing Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management, administration, and organization of the department. This role includes leadership, training, coaching, and mentoring clinical operations staff to ensure the highest standards of scientific and medical excellence.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Supervise clinical operations technical and professional staff, both directly and indirectly.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant protocols, SOPs, and ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Ensure the Operations staff receives proper training and maintains compliance with SOPs and skills checks.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training files for staff in accordance with SOPs and ICH/GCP.
  • Ensure scientific and medical standards are consistently met.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or medical field preferred. Fortrea may consider relevant experience in lieu of education requirements.

Experience:

  • 3-4 years of laboratory/sample management experience.
  • Supervisory experience or proven leadership responsibilities in clinical research coordination/management.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education requirements.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Mandatory immunizations and screening as required.
  • Handling biologically hazardous and radiolabeled materials.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and hear for job requirements.
  • Ability to use hands for typing or handling objects, tools, and controls for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand and/or bend for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • Travel requirements: less than 5% for cross-site support or external training needs.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 USD (based on experience and qualifications).
