Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for providing staff development expertise and fostering empowerment through knowledge, aiming for excellence in evidence-based nursing practice. This position serves as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, and researcher. The role involves facilitating the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competencies to enhance the skills of bedside nurses and the patient care team.

As a professional role model, the Clinical Nurse Educator plays a vital role in creating a professional nursing climate at Southwest General Health Center, meeting the diverse needs of various units within the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Leadership: Lead, facilitate, and evaluate staff development programs to improve the skills and competencies of nursing staff.
  • Competency Development: Assess, plan, and implement strategies for nursing competency development to ensure evidence-based practice is followed.
  • Consultation & Facilitation: Work with nursing staff to address educational needs, provide coaching, and implement changes to improve patient care.
  • Change Management: Act as a change agent to drive improvements in nursing practices and outcomes.
  • Professional Climate: Promote a positive and professional nursing environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement.
  • Physical Demands: The role requires physical activity, including the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, with a focus on clinical education or professional development.
  • Licensure: Current Ohio license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Additional Training: Age-related didactic coursework focusing on the developmental human life cycle is required.
