Position Overview

The Associate Manager / Medical Advisor will be responsible for supporting Bayer's Consumer Health brands by leading the medical strategy, ensuring scientific communication, and providing medical support to internal and external stakeholders. This role will require close collaboration with the brand team, KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders), and other cross-functional teams to drive the growth of consumer health products and ensure the substantiation of medical claims.


Key Responsibilities

1. Medical Strategy & Brand Support

  • Develop and execute medical strategies that align with brand strategies

  • Work with KOLs (nutritionists, doctors, pharmacists) to gain endorsement and recommendations for consumer health brands

  • Lead the development of medical claims and ensure their substantiation based on scientific evidence

2. Claim Development & Substantiation

  • Identify opportunities to generate new medical claims based on literature, especially for existing and new products

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional materials that support medical claims

  • Provide leadership in the creation of Japan-specific medical claim packs

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support sales force training programs related to product science and medical content

  • Engage with industry bodies, ensuring Bayer’s presence in medical subcommittees and keeping abreast of industry changes

  • Offer medical insights to the new product development process, including recommendations on formulations

4. Scientific Communication & Education

  • Monitor and digest new scientific literature and share relevant findings with brand teams

  • Develop FAQ materials and support ongoing training of commercial teams

  • Evaluate and offer medical guidance on the feasibility of new product concepts in a clinical context

5. Regulatory & Governance Support

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in promotional materials and scientific communication

  • Review promotional materials to ensure alignment with scientific data


Qualifications

  • Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in medical/pharmaceutical/biological/life sciences or equivalent

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or consumer health industry role, specifically in R&D and Medical Affairs

  • Strong scientific and medical expertise, especially in OTC or pharmaceutical medicine

  • Ability to engage with Health Care Professionals (HCPs) and provide strategic insights

  • Native Japanese language proficiency, with a good command of English (TOEIC 730+ preferred)

  • Registered pharmacist (preferably)
