Job Title: Assistant Director of Education and Research (Remote, 30-40% Travel)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate Assistant Director of Education and Research to support the Division Director in the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and programs related to the accreditation of veterinary schools and colleges. The ideal candidate is a veterinarian with a deep commitment to veterinary education, accreditation processes, and improving the quality of education for future veterinary professionals.

This remote position involves working collaboratively with both professional and administrative teams and requires occasional travel (30-40%). The Assistant Director will assist with accreditation site visits, design training for site visitors, and consult with educational institutions to ensure the ongoing improvement of veterinary educational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accreditation Support: Provide staff support for accreditation site visits and consultations related to veterinary schools and colleges.
  • Training & Development: Develop and implement initial and annual training programs for accreditation site visitors in collaboration with the Division Director.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain and execute quality assurance programs for accreditation site visits and related processes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with veterinary educators, college administrators, and other staff to address issues related to veterinary education and accreditation.
  • Policy Development: Stay up-to-date on best practices for accreditation and suggest procedural or policy changes as necessary.
  • Leadership Support: Assist the Division Director in executing day-to-day duties and managing accreditation-related initiatives.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Exhibit a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Division Director or the organization.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in veterinary-related work, including experience as a veterinary clinician.
  • Veterinary Education Knowledge: Proven expertise in veterinary education, with familiarity with accreditation processes strongly preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership and management experience, ideally in a veterinary education setting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to facilitate consensus among diverse perspectives.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with both scientific and non-scientific communities, including veterinary college administrators.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time.
  • DVM/VMD Required: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), or equivalent degree required.
  • Preferred: Advanced education or board certification in a relevant field is highly desirable.
