Position Summary

As the Area Lead, Site of Care (Rare Disease), you will support infused therapy delivery across Amgen’s gout, neuroimmunology, and ophthalmology business units.

You will identify, establish, and manage business-to-business relationships with local Sites of Care (SOC)—such as infusion centers and specialty pharmacies—and develop strategic account plans to optimize patient access and treatment delivery within the territory.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Site of Care Management

  • Maximize Site of Care (SOC) opportunities in line with product labeling, strategic imperatives, and company policies.

  • Identify gaps in SOC networks and develop plans to expand access options.

  • Prospect and establish business-to-business relationships with local infusion sites and specialty partners.

  • Implement national partnership contracts at the local level.

  • Conduct quarterly business reviews and access-related education (e.g., coding, billing) for SOC leaders.

Account & Business Planning

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for sales, patient services, and reimbursement teams related to assigned SOC accounts.

  • Evaluate, develop, and monitor partnership performance to align with objectives such as growth, value, and profitability.

  • Create and execute jointly developed business plans with SOC customers and internal teams.

  • Deliver business presentations and performance reviews based on shared needs and benefits.

  • Analyze and report contracted account performance to key internal stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Medical Affairs on infusion-related clinical procedure overviews.

  • Partner with Patient Access, Sales, and Market Access teams for synchronized business execution.

  • Lead or contribute to special projects aimed at improving operational performance and business outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and corporate policies in all communications and actions.

Independent Execution

  • Develop and implement your own business plan to achieve account and territory objectives.

  • Represent Amgen at meetings, conferences, and educational events as requested by management.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Sales and/or Account Management experience
    OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of Sales and/or Account Management experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Sales and/or Account Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience identifying and activating Sites of Care (SOC) across:

    • National/regional infusion service providers (SPPs, infusion management companies)

    • Hospital outpatient infusion centers

    • Home infusion service providers

    • Physician office buy-and-bill practices

  • Experience in infused therapies (required); rare disease experience (preferred).

  • Knowledge of Rheumatology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, or Endocrinology reimbursement processes.

  • Recent launch experience with infused products (preferred).

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance environments.

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and escalate appropriately.

  • Demonstrated innovation in account management and partnership approaches.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Professional and proactive demeanor with excellent communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70%, including overnight and weekend travel.
