Position Overview

Lilly is seeking a Senior Director for Global Patient Safety (GPS) Data Sciences to lead the strategic, technical, and personnel direction of safety systems, data analytics, automation, and technology across GPS. The role will collaborate with leaders across GPS, Lilly Research Laboratories, and IT to align on business needs, develop integrated strategies, and ensure the delivery of robust, data-driven solutions supporting pharmacovigilance and patient safety.

This is a senior leadership role that requires both strategic vision and hands-on management, ensuring compliance, innovation, and operational excellence in safety data sciences.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership of GPS Safety Data Sciences Team

  • Manage team priorities, resources, and operating goals.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent while providing coaching and feedback.

  • Support business planning and staffing to align with GPS objectives.

  • Build deep technical expertise within the team to meet evolving safety data needs.

GPS Technology & Analytics Strategy

  • Own automation, technology, and analytics strategies supporting GPS.

  • Align solutions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficiency and impact.

  • Benchmark and implement best practices in process automation, data insights, and system efficiency.

  • Build business technology capabilities to support the future state of GPS operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Establish strong partnerships with IT, Quality, Clinical, Statistics, and other functional teams.

  • Leverage external resources and internal learnings to optimize GPS data systems and analytics.

  • Influence GPS and enterprise-wide needs through strategic collaboration and communication.

Drug Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain and enhance safety systems to support regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure staff training and adherence to policies and processes.

  • Support external and internal inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years supporting drug development functions (Safety, Clinical, Project Management, IT, etc.).

  • 5+ years of people management experience.

  • 2+ years of prior experience in Pharmacovigilance.

  • Experience implementing small to large-scale technology or systems projects.


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Prior systems ownership and implementation experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in process automation and cross-functional analytics.

  • Strong strategic thinking and change management skills.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural, virtual, global environment.

  • Essential computer skills including Office suite and web-based tools.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated Salary: $151,500 – $222,200 (dependent on experience and location).
