Role Overview:

The Senior Patient Recruitment & Engagement Lead is responsible for leading global patient recruitment and retention strategies across multiple studies. The role focuses on optimizing enrollment, enhancing patient engagement, and ensuring diversity and compliance in trial recruitment.

The position requires experience in global recruitment strategy, trial operations, functional leadership, and client management.


Key Responsibilities:

Functional Lead:

  • Act as a Functional Lead for recruitment and retention strategy initiatives

  • Communicate with Project Manager, Clinical Team Managers, and CRAs

  • Ensure country and region-appropriate recruitment methods are applied

  • Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and escalate issues

  • Serve as Subject Matter Authority for recruitment and retention topics

  • Track enrollment metrics, build progress reports, and provide updates

Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement patient recruitment and retention strategies

  • Identify barriers to recruitment and retention; develop risk mitigation plans

  • Collaborate with clients and study teams to design strategic solutions for specific protocols/patient populations

  • Support proposals and bid defenses related to recruitment activities

Third-Party & Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate quality and performance of third-party providers

  • Resolve vendor issues and ensure invoice accuracy and timeliness

  • Manage vendor budgets in collaboration with PPD Finance

  • Facilitate communication between providers, clients, and internal study teams

Patient Diversity & Inclusion:

  • Collaborate with the Patient Population Science team to integrate Diversity Plans into recruitment strategies

  • Ensure client diversity requirements are implemented and monitored

  • Track and report patient diversity metrics throughout the study

Patient Enrollment Optimization:

  • Partner with Enrollment Vendor Leads to avoid task redundancy and ensure compliance

  • Gather feedback from study teams and clients to review vendor performance

  • Provide actionable feedback to the Vendor Relationship Lead


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field

  • ≥5 years patient recruitment management experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Experience in global recruitment strategy, trial operations, and functional leadership preferred

  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws, and ethical considerations

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups

  • Ability to perform under pressure while prioritizing multiple projects


Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Work upright and stationary for standard office hours

  • Proficient with standard office equipment and technology

  • Ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously

  • Regular and consistent attendance required

  • Home-based US position; relocation assistance not provided


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $100K – $130K USD (base)

  • Eligible for annual variable bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance
