Role Overview:
Gilead is seeking a Senior Director of Clinical Development within the Inflammation/Fibrosis therapeutic area, focusing on primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) with potential involvement across other indications. This leadership role requires overseeing Phase 3 and 4 clinical programs, regulatory filings, and cross-functional collaboration to advance the development of therapies addressing critical unmet medical needs. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong scientific acumen, strategic leadership, and the ability to manage complex clinical development programs in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of clinical trials, including protocol development, statistical analysis planning, and clinical study reports.

  • Provide medical and scientific leadership in data review, interpretation, and clinical monitoring to ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Develop and implement clinical development plans, target product profiles, and lifecycle strategies for assigned products.

  • Contribute to global regulatory filings, investigator brochures, and scientific communications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including real-world evidence, health economics, and outcomes research to enhance clinical programs.

  • Present clinical and scientific data at regulatory meetings, conferences, and investigator meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), industry standards, and Gilead SOPs.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent degree with 6+ years of clinical, scientific, or drug development experience in biopharma, academia, or a related environment.

  • Proven experience in medical monitoring, clinical trial leadership, and cross-functional project management.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex data effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and manage multiple clinical programs.

  • Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification in hepatology, gastroenterology, or related internal medicine specialty.

  • Experience in chronic liver disease, inflammation/fibrosis, autoimmunity, PBC, or MASH clinical research.

  • Experience in regulatory submissions, scientific publications, and presenting data to diverse audiences.

  • Track record of leading clinical development deliverables independently and providing strategic guidance to cross-functional teams.
