Position Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Cardiovascular is a field-based medical expert responsible for engaging healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and decision-makers across the assigned region. The MSL will advance Amgen’s scientific platform through compliant communication of clinical, safety, and value data while supporting internal medical and research initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with cardiology opinion leaders and healthcare decision-makers.

  • Present and communicate scientific and clinical data to advance Amgen’s therapeutic objectives.

  • Provide accurate and compliant responses to unsolicited medical information requests.

Scientific Education & Research Support

  • Support the Scientific Education Plan (SEP) and local R&D strategies.

  • Identify and engage with potential investigators for Amgen-sponsored and non-sponsored clinical research.

  • Serve as study lead or research liaison as required.

Internal Collaboration

  • Deliver field insights to internal teams to inform medical strategy.

  • Support speaker training and ensure content reflects the latest data.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and represent MSL strategy in internal forums.

Congress & Event Participation

  • Lead or support congress activities and medical meetings aligned with corporate objectives.

  • Maintain scientific acumen to represent Amgen at key professional events.

Operational Excellence

  • Execute annual scientific engagement plans and meet MSL metrics.

  • Adhere to compliance, documentation, and reporting standards.

  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned training and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree with 2+ years of Medical Affairs experience
    OR

  • Master’s degree with 6+ years of Medical Affairs experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of Medical Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)

  • Cardiovascular expertise, especially in lipid management

  • ≥3 years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs within a biotech or pharmaceutical company

  • ≥3 years in clinical practice or clinical/medical research

  • Post-doctoral training (residency/fellowship) preferred
