Role Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Access Strategy, the Director of Access Strategy – HIV Prevention will lead the development and execution of integrated US market access strategies, payer marketing initiatives, and customer engagement with public and private payers. This role focuses on both in-market products and pre-launch pipeline assets specific to HIV Prevention (PrEP).

The role involves:

  • Matrix management to influence stakeholders and manage priorities.

  • Cross-functional collaboration to assess the external environment, derive insights, and develop tailored strategies for dynamic US payer landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize integrated payer value propositions aligned with population-based decision-makers.

  • Identify payer insights, including clinical, economic, and societal value elements.

  • Implement branded and unbranded payer strategies, resources, and tools for strategic account management and non-personal engagement.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to elevate market access understanding and simplify complex information.

  • Partner with strategic pricing, contracting, and reimbursement teams to integrate pricing into the overall value narrative.

  • Train customer-facing teams on market access topics for aligned products.

  • Communicate access landscape updates and support triaging of access and reimbursement issues.

  • Collaborate with US Health Outcomes on evidence generation planning to validate value messages.

  • Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate direct reports, including budget management and recruitment.

  • Manage agency and vendor relationships.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5+ years of US-based pharmaceutical industry experience in market access, marketing, or commercial roles.

  • Experience with commercial and public payer customers (PBMs, MCOs, employer, Medicaid, Medicare) and understanding of payer dynamics, industry trends, and regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree (Master, PhD) or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of Market Access experience.

  • Experience in the HIV therapeutic area.

  • Strong business acumen, B2B strategic thinking, and ability to translate insights into strategy.

  • Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to influence across matrix organizations.

  • Experience managing agencies and understanding compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDAMA 114, pre-approval information exchange).

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and foster organizational alignment under tight timelines.
