About the Role

Astellas is seeking a Vendor Contract Manager to oversee contracting activities for Pharmacovigilance (PV) and Regulatory Affairs (RA) vendors. The role involves managing contracts from drafting through execution, ensuring compliance with international PV and regulatory standards, and supporting cost optimization without compromising service quality.

This position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders including Vendor Oversight & Relationship (VOR) managers, Functional Vendor Managers, Procurement, and Global Contract Office (GCO), as well as external vendor teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and update Exhibit A and other contractual documents for RAPV vendor agreements in collaboration with Functional Vendor Managers and VOR Relationship Managers.

  • Ensure all contract language aligns with global Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs regulatory requirements and is inspection-ready.

  • Analyze vendor pricing structures and identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining service quality.

  • Work closely with Procurement teams to incorporate performance-based incentives and cost-saving clauses into contracts.

  • Manage and track the contract review and approval process, flagging delays and facilitating timely execution.

  • Utilize Astellas Ariba system to monitor contract activities and send reminders to stakeholders for action items.

  • Coordinate meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders as required.

  • Handle ad-hoc updates and contract-related requests efficiently.

  • Support BPM and VOR teams with additional tasks related to vendor contracts.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in relevant field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry.

  • At least 4 years of significant experience in Pharmacovigilance or Regulatory Affairs, including establishing standards and metrics to support quality systems.

  • Proven experience in contract drafting and management, including PV agreements and vendor contracts.

  • Strong knowledge of contract law, legal terminology, and regulatory compliance relevant to Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors and internal teams.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of data privacy regulations, PV regulations, and industry guidelines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management skills for managing multiple contract and vendor activities.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and cost modeling.

  • Experience with Ariba or other contract management systems.

  • Understanding of contract compliance and regulatory requirements specific to Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs.


Working Environment

This position is based in Bengaluru, India, and requires onsite presence. After 6–12 months of on-site engagement, a hybrid work arrangement may be considered based on company guidelines.
